Khabar TV (Bureau): For a long time, employees have been waiting for the formation of their Eighth Pay Commission. The organizations representing them are also constantly raising this demand. Now the government has clarified the situation on the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission.

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha that no proposal for the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission is under consideration.

He said, ‘Two requests have been received in June 2024 for the formation of the Eighth Central Pay Commission. At present, no such proposal is under consideration with the government.’

Usually, the central government constitutes a pay commission every 10 years to revise the salaries of government employees. The Seventh Pay Commission was constituted in February 2014.

Its recommendations were implemented from January 1, 2016. Accordingly, the Eighth Pay Commission is to be implemented on January 1, 2026.

1 crore employees will benefit from 8th pay-

With the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, about 1 crore employees will benefit. There are about 49 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners in this. The next pay commission will increase the fitment factor given to the employees. This will increase their salary. The fitment factor helps in calculating the salary and pay matrix of the employees.

In the 7th Pay Commission, a fitment factor of 2.57 times was introduced. This increased the minimum salary of government employees by about 14.29 percent and their basic salary increased to about 18 thousand rupees.

Experts believe that in the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor can be about 3.68 times. If there is this much fitment factor, then the salary of the employees will increase by about Rs 8,000.
