The senior diplomat visited the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters (West) on Thursday and expressed his gratitude for rescuing Chinese sailors in the last two years, an official statement said.
Kong said during a meeting with Inspector General Bhishma Sharma, Commander of the Indian Coast Guard (West), that China is ready to work with India to bridge the gap between the people of the two countries and strengthen friendship. He said, “…the people of our countries will walk together like brothers and sisters.”
The statement said that the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy had rescued a seriously injured Chinese sailor on July 24. He was bleeding profusely.

Kong said, “The Indian Coast Guard responded to this medical emergency. The rescue team braved strong winds and high waves to take him to the hospital. Due to the quick rescue and professional treatment of the Indian Coast Guard, the sailor has recovered very well and has already returned to China.”
According to the statement, Kong told IG Sharma, ‘Today, I have come here on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Mumbai to express my heartfelt gratitude to you and all the officials and to thank the Indian Coast Guard.’
