Khabar TV (Bureau): The government has given in-principle approval to THDC India’s 1,200 MW pump storage power plant project in Robertsganj, Sonbhadra. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 6,600 crore. It is expected to generate electricity for 6 hours and 36 minutes per day.

Regarding the project to be set up on 300.55 hectares of land in Robertsganj, Chief Secretary and Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh said that Invest UP has been made the nodal agency for giving in-principle approval to Pump Storage Power (PSP) projects.

A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of IIDC with the CEO of Invest UP as its member secretary. The committee includes representatives from the Energy Department, UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, Revenue Department, Forest Department, Irrigation Department and Central Water Commission.

Water will be supplied from Son River –

Water for the project will be supplied from the Son River. He said that the government has given in-principle approval for 10 PSP plants. Eight of these projects will be in Sonbhadra, while one plant each will be set up in Mirzapur and Chandauli. 14,450 MW of electricity is expected to be produced in Sonbhadra. Whereas 600 and 900 MW of electricity will be produced in Mirzapur and Chandauli.
